Curtain Drain
We installed an 18 foot rubber membrane, Curtain Drain, in the rear of the house. The rubber membrane will be fastened to the foundation with a termination strip. We dug a trench, approximately 16 to 20 inches wide. Inside of the curtain drain, we laid a solid piece of 4 inch tile to take the downspouts from the back corners to the solid piping that will be buried on the hill. We also put 18 feet of 4 inch slotted tile, to act as a conduit for water to travel through, and tie into the solid pipe that will be buried 36 feet away from the corner of the foundation. On top of the tiles, we placed a bed of large wash stone built up to the grade of the existing soil. This acts as a filter for the water to come through to the tile.
